EUROPE CALLS FOR A NEW COMBAT AIRCRAFT
Germany and France want to jointly develop a new generation of a European combat aircraft. They want to replace existing squadrons of supersonic military aircraft. At present, Germany uses Eurofighter European machines. France has developed its own Rafale supersonic aircraft due to disagreements in this project. The countries are also planning to develop a new generation of the Tiger Combat Helicopter and combat system, which should include both pilot and unmanned machines. A specific development plan should be known by the middle of next year.
“I think that shortly after the new government came to power, we showed that we are ready to add a new enthusiasm to the Franco-German relations.” said Angela Merkel, German Chancellor.
