FLIGHT WITH ONE ENGINE


Pilot of Hawaiian Airlines has shown that flying with only one engine is not really a problem. During a trip from Kona to Honolulu, he noticed that the left engine had begun to vibrate. So he better turned it off.

“The plane began to shake and I felt that it slightly slowed down. Then suddenly I heard a loud noise. It sounded like if one of the engines had turned off.” Said Queny Rois, the passenger.

The aircraft continued with one engine for another 15 minutes, then landed safely. 89 passengers on board of the aircraft were never in danger according the airline. Their pilots are allegedly trained for such situations.

“The plane was near Oahu. So we could just land at their airport instead of landing on one of the smaller islands.” Said Hawaiian Airlines.

Engine failure during flight is not a pleasant matter, but it definitely isn’t a tragedy.

So it is necessary to stabilize the aircraft for which there is a system in the aircraft, it balances in the axis, so it doesn’t spin over and the pilot doesn’t have to to have a released pedal all that time. A worse situation occurs when the engine fails during takeoff. More precisely, after V1 speed, which is the speed at which the aircraft can still safely stop during the takeoff.
